Meet the partner: Mark-Olof Dirksen from Philips
Mark-Olof Dirksen is a technical project leader and senior engineer at Philips. At Philips, they strive to improve people’s health and well-being through meaningful innovation.
Can you shortly introduce your role in the INCREACE project?
My focus is function developments in the area of materials, finishing, technologies and recycling. I am a DfR expert and we work international with our multidisciplinary teams to enforce innovations on products level via Advanced Development projects (also called NPD).
How did Philips get involved in the INCREACE project?
Via definitions of next steps needed for Philips after Horizon project PolyCE and good contacts with Fraunhofer, suppliers and Universities.
How do you see the added value of INCREACE for Philips?
I see a lot of added value of INCREACE for Philips, such as; cooperations, co-developments, knowledge building & sharing, partnering, ideation and new application fields for Philips.
What is the role of Philips in the INCREACE project?
We defined User Cases to sketch and test supply chains which can enhance the use of high quality recycled plastics (greener BOM) and we are looking for DfR guidelines for medical products and how can we close the collection and recycling loops.
What do you hope to achieve by the end of the project?
A validated DfR model/assessment to guide our design & product engineers better and new applications for new circular plastic grades preferable coming from (medical) WEEE.
