Meet the partner: Laura Strobl from Fraunhofer IVV

Laura Strobl is a scientist and project manager and has been working at Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging – Fraunhofer IVV for more than three and half years.

Can you shortly introduce your role in the INCREACE project?

I conduct research in the recycling of plastic mix waste streams, like WEEE, ELV and C&DW, with the solvent based CreaSolv® Process. Together with my colleague Dr. Martin Schlummer, I will lead Work Package 2 “Advanced recycling technologies”.

How did Fraunhofer IVV get involved in the INCREACE project?

Fraunhofer IVV has also been involved in previous projects dealing with similar topics (e.g. CloseWEEE, NONTOX). This brought the INCREACE project to their attention, as they are trying with the whole INCREACE consortium to increase recycling rates with the help of three different recycling technologies.

How do you see the added value of INCREACE for Fraunhofer IVV?

The most added value is the exchange of knowledge between the various partners.

What is the role of Fraunhofer IVV in the INCREACE project?

Fraunhofer IVV lead Work Package 2 “Advanced recycling technologies”, to clarify the best combinations of raw materials, technologies, upgrading potential and product specifications. Experimentally, Fraunhofer IVV will take care of the application of the CreaSolv® Process to produce recyclates for the different business cases.

What do you hope to achieve by the end of the project?

I hope that by the end of the project, we will see an increase in the share of recycled plastics in new products. Provide recyclates from CreaSolv® Process. And that we’ve developed the best combination of raw materials, technologies, upgrading potential and product specifications.
