Ive Vanderreydt has been working for VITO for 25 years. At VITO, he currently focuses on sustainability assessments within resource management, with specific expertise in the environmental impacts of waste treatment and materials management.
Can you shortly introduce VITO?
VITO is an independent research organisation in the field of cleantech and sustainable development. Our goal? To accelerate the transition to a sustainable world.
Our circular economy research team helps unlock the potential of the circular economy in the transition to a sustainable world.
How did VITO get involved in the INCREACE project?
In the last few years, we have built up expertise and knowledge on both the potential and barriers of plastic recycling and on solutions to increase the circularity of plastics. As a result, we have been in contact with many of the consortium partners and discussed with them how to increase the recycled plastic content in added value products, ultimately resulting in the INCREACE project.
How do you see the added value of INCREACE for VITO?
The INCREACE project allows us to discuss with all project partners how to improve the quality of plastics recycling.
What is the role of VITO in the INCREACE project?
VITO will demonstrate how the role of plastics recycling is shifting from a waste management operation to a secondary material supply chain.
What do you hope to achieve by the end of the project?
We hope to be able to demonstrate to the business cases in the project how they can increase the recycled content in their value-added products.
